Shockwave therapy in Stony Brook, New York
Focused Treatment for Stubborn Muscle, Tendon and Soft-Tissue Pain
Radial shockwave therapy uses focused acoustic pressure waves to stimulate local circulation and a healing response in tissues that may remain painful or restricted despite rest and conventional care.
A complementary recovery strategy
Combining Shockwave and Red Light Therapy
Dr. Shane Wend explains why these two therapies may be used together as part of an individualized recovery plan.
How Shockwave Therapy Supports Recovery
Treatment is delivered directly to the involved area using the Oceanus PhysioPro 2 radial shockwave system. The intensity and treatment plan are adjusted to the tissue, sensitivity and goals of each individual.
Targeted Treatment
Focus care on a specific painful or restricted muscle, tendon or soft-tissue region.
Circulation and Repair
Acoustic pressure waves are used to encourage local blood flow and tissue-recovery processes.
Movement Support
Reducing local sensitivity and restriction may help restore more comfortable activity.

What to Expect
We first evaluate the painful area and determine whether shockwave therapy is appropriate. Gel is applied, and the handpiece delivers controlled pulses to the target tissue. Treatment may feel intense over sensitive areas, but the setting can be adjusted. Many plans use approximately three to six sessions, commonly spaced about one week apart, depending on response and presentation.
